Do you accept applications from international candidates?
Yes, but, to take up a role you'll need to be eligible to work in the UK.How many people will be on the programme?
There are up to 20 places available for the 2013 intake.
What would my starting salary be?
There’s a highly competitive senior manager package that includes benefits and bonuses.
Can I choose which business units I work for during my time on the programme?
Your experiences gained on the programme will be carefully selected to aid your development into senior roles within Operations. However, we'll also aim to tailor your time on the programme together with you where possible to best suit your background and development interests.
Where will I be located during my placements?
This will vary by individual – so you could be located anywhere in the UK.
What type of development will I receive?
There will be a range of development activities for the STEP 2013 programme – for example networking events to increase your knowledge of the organisation and develop your networks. You'll also have the opportunity to identify your own development plan in conjunction with receiving support from a mentor and coach.
Where will I be located following the completion of the programme?
This will depend on various factors, for example, your skills and business requirements – opportunities could be located anywhere within the UK based on which role best suits you.
Is there a ‘pass level’ for the programme that I have to meet in order to stay with Royal Mail?
You'll need to meet the expectations of the STEP, and achieve the goals and objectives for each individual placement.
What will the permanent roles be like after the programme?
There are a variety of roles across Operations in Royal Mail which STEP will prepare you for, for example Delivery Sector Manager. These will be discussed with you during your time on the programme.
Will there only be a certain number of roles available after the programme is complete?
Royal Mail is a large organisation which has a number of opportunities available, so there are plenty of positions on offer. Our aim is to ensure that there are the right roles for the right people within the business.
Do I have to complete the programme before I can apply for other internal roles?
Not necessarily. STEP will prepare you for your role after the programme within Royal Mail. However, should an opportunity arise that you'd like to be considered for before your completion date, this can be discussed at the time.
Will relocation expenses be reimbursed?
Because every situation is different, this will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
