Your development.Your future will be founded on 350 years of history.

Your development

We may have 350 years of history behind us but it’s the future we’re most excited about. Our business is evolving by the day and as a potential leader of that business, we’ll make sure you have every opportunity to develop at the same rate.

Of course, we recognise that our graduates will have different backgrounds, goals and expectations (in fact, we positively encourage it). So we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure we can offer each individual a development programme that’s exactly that: individual.

Among other things this will include:

  • Comprehensive inductions that will help you get to know your new team and enable you to quickly feel at home in your new working environment
  • The chance to test yourself on real jobs with real responsibilities; helping you develop the skills and knowledge for future senior leadership positions
  • Scheduled get-togethers with business leaders and line managers
  • A personal mentor (a senior business leader who will provide career guidance and help you identify appropriate opportunities)
  • A personal ‘buddy’ (a previous Graduate who can offer impartial advice and support on both personal and job-related issues).

And the learning doesn’t stop there

We also offer a number of formal learning opportunities, such as:

  • Development workshops relevant to your specialist area. These will provide you with a chance to share best practice and meet other graduates outside your normal working environment
  • The potential to study for a professional qualification
  • The opportunity to take part in collaborative workshops with other graduates (e.g. working on a key business challenge sponsored by a member of the executive team)
  • Regular opportunities to meet senior business leaders
  • Access to the Royal Mail Group e-learning suite
  • Technical or knowledge training relevant to your business area.

What we expect from you

We’ll offer you all the support you need to succeed. But at the end of the day it’s up to you show you have the drive and the ambition, not to mention the talent, to take on a senior management role.

You’ll need to be enthusiastic, eager to seek feedback on your performance, and pro-active when it comes to identifying new development opportunities. Also, because your placements may be in different parts of the country, you’ll need to be open to relocation.

Show us all this and we‘ll go out of our way to help you realise every last inch of your potential. To find out which area of our business will be best suited to your talents, follow the links below.
