Our ability to deliver a letter from Lands End to John O’Groats for less than the cost of a pint of milk is pretty impressive. But there’s a lot more to the Royal Mail Group than collecting, sorting and delivering mail. We provide home loans and credit cards. We offer travel insurance. And we’re the biggest cash handler in the country with more than £90 billion passing through our hands each year.
As we look to maintain our leading position in what is now a very competitive marketplace, we need to evolve our business. A key part of that development will involve coming up with new ways to achieve long-term sustainable profitability and our Finance team has a fundamental role to play in making that happen.
Our Finance Programme is structured over three years and will provide you with an overview of the entire Royal Mail Group. During that time, you’ll carry out three placements and gain experience in functions such as Treasury, Investment Appraisal and Performance Management.
Given the size of the organisation, and the different areas you’ll get to work in, you’ll quickly build up a network of senior contacts in the business, who’ll be happy to give you the support you need to progress your career. Plus, after completing a comprehensive induction to the business, you’ll start to study for your CIMA professional qualification, which you should attain within four years.
By the end of the programme, the combination of professional training and on-the-job learning (blended with your own dedication and ambition) should have provided you with all the skills you need to make a major contribution to our future direction.
