Technology apprenticeships with Royal Mail

Here at Royal Mail, we have six different technology apprenticeships: 

  1. Data Analyst
  2. Business Analyst
  3. Junior Digital Project Manager
  4. Software Tester
  5. Software Developer
So whether you’re interested in detecting breaches in network security, managing and abstracting data, offering expert technical advice or developing software, you’ll develop a specialist blend of technical skills and build a foundation of knowledge in critical areas that will set you up with a rewarding career. 
 
  • Location: United Kingdom
  • Salary: £16,000-£18,000 plus additional allowance if based in London

You qualify for the apprenticeship programme if...
  • You have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (including Maths and English).
  • You have achieved or expect to achieve two A levels (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above in addition to your GCSEs.
  • You’re able to start work in September 2018.
  • You’re eligible to work in the UK.

On all Technology apprentice programmes you will:

  • Work towards your level 4 apprenticeship
  • Grow your abilities exponentially to change the world around you 
  • Build a platform for an exciting and varied career with salary to match
  • Learn about real world problems and how to approach solutions 
  • Work in an organisation that is incredibly well respected and operates at a scale others can only dream of
  • Be supported by experienced mentors and managers who will guide you through your apprenticeship
  • Once you’ve completed the programme, there are a number of progression routes which could lead to a degree in IT
  • On completing the programme, you will be registered with the IT Technicians confirming SFIA level 4 professional competence

  • Data Analyst

    In the digital age when data is vital, can you keep our business informed with the information it needs? Eager to take your technology knowledge to the next level?

     

    If yes, then you could be the Data Analyst apprentice we are looking for!

    This exciting role provides the opportunity to collect, organise and study data to provide business insight. Data analysts are typically involved with managing, cleansing, abstracting and aggregating data. They document and report the results of data analysis activities using a range of analytical tools and techniques - a varied role that will help you build a foundation of knowledge across the wide ranging area of business data and metrics - setting you up for a rewarding career.

    • Location: London
    • Salary: £18,000 plus London allowance

    On this programme you will:

    • Learn the fundamental skills you need to begin your career as a technology professional.
    • Tackle topics such Data Analysis Tools and Data Analysis Concepts.
    • Gain invaluable experience by learning challenging theory and applying this straight on-the-job. 
    • Be supported by experienced mentors and managers who will guide you through your apprenticeship.
    • Develop the fundamental skills required for a Data Analyst including collecting and compiling data from different sources, perform routine statistical analyses and ad-hoc queries and assist production of performance dashboards and reports.
    • Complete your Level 4 Apprenticeship

  • Business Analyst

    In the digital age we are delivering innovative new solutions to our customers. Are you inquisitive and able to put yourself in the shoes of our customers to understand what it is they need to ensure we deliver the right solution in the IT projects we will run?

     

    If yes, then you could be the Business Analyst apprentice we are looking for!

     

    This exciting role provides the opportunity to collect, organise and study data to provide business insight. Business analysts are typically involved with capturing requirements before an IT project starts. They analyse and understand the needs of the users of a project  - a varied role that will help you build a foundation of knowledge across the wide ranging area of business data and requirements- setting you up for a rewarding career.

    • Location: London
    • Salary: £18,000 plus allowance if based in London

    • Develop the fundamental skills required for a Business Analyst including modelling data, analysing business needs and understanding the impact of any project change on various stakeholders
    • Complete your Level 4 Apprenticeship

  • Junior Digital Project Manager

    Do you think you have what it takes to manage and deliver projects in a Digital world?

    This exciting job will help you develop technical and managerial skills to deliver digital projects. It will also help you build a foundation of knowledge in  the broader areas of Project Management - setting you up for a rewarding career.

    • Salary: £18,000 plus allowance if based in London

    • Develop the fundamental skills required  to be a Project Manager specialist including methodologies, planning, technical oversight and people management
    • Gain invaluable experience by learning challenging theory and applying this straight on-the-job 
    • Be supported by experienced mentors and managers who will guide you through your apprenticeship
    • Complete your Level 4 Apprenticeship

  • Software Tester

    We strive to deliver innovative products and services through a world class customer experience. As a software tester, you will be involved in the quality assurance stage of software development and deployment. 
    As part of this exciting opportunity your role will be assessing code, going through a process of validating and verifying that a software program or application or product meets the business and technical requirements that guided it's design and development
     
    • Location: London/Milton Keynes
    • Salary: £16,000 plus allowance if based in London
    On this programme you will:
    • Work towards your level 4 apprenticeship
    • Work inside one of the best IT functions in a leading organisation
